1 · Environment
What lightning data do you have for the site? The wizard prefers NSG from a lightning location system, then NG from a flash-density map — or looks it up on a satellite map.
→ N_SG = k · N_G = 8.0 /km²/yr will be used in the calculation (eq. A.1).
2 · Structure
Geometry and physical character. Like the real wizard, every option shows the coefficient it resolves to.
3 · Power lines
Each connected service section is a card — flashes to and near it add S3/S4 risk. The real wizard takes any number of sections per service.
4 · Telecom lines
The short overhead telecom line out-injects the long buried power line here — C_I and C_T at work.
5 · Risk zones
Risk is computed and judged per zone (Ed. 3:2024). Zone templates prefill typical values in the real wizard.
6 · Results — risk R per zone
R > R_T · protection required| Zone | Risk R | vs R_T = 10⁻⁵ | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z1 — Entrance plaza | 2.1×10⁻¹⁰ | — | Pass |
| Z2 — Offices | 3.8×10⁻⁵ | ×3.8 | Exceeds |
| Z3 — Archive (governing) | 3.6×10⁻⁴ | ×36 | Exceeds |
Component breakdown — governing zone (R = R_L1 + R_L2)
Figures are the validated engine's output for this sample building (IEC 62305-2 Ed. 3:2024) — shown here as a fixed walkthrough. Your structure gets its own live computation, with every step clause-referenced.
